Ms. Raisa Sigma Hima
In 2016, Ms. Raisa Sigma Hima joined Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC—one of the leading industrial conglomerates in Bangladesh—as its youngest Director, following the completion of her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from North South University. From the outset of her professional journey, Ms. Hima demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic insight, tackling industry challenges with prompt and effective solutions. A significant portion of her early contributions centered around the Television (TV) manufacturing segment of Walton. Under her stewardship, the company witnessed a substantial increase in market share and a remarkable rise in sales. Driven by a long-standing aspiration to promote Bangladeshi-manufactured electronics on the global stage, Ms. Hima was instrumental in initiating the export of Walton televisions to international markets, including member nations of the European Union. Her emphasis on innovation and incorporation of cutting-edge technologies transformed Walton’s television manufacturing infrastructure, positioning the brand as a competitive global player.
Beyond her achievements in the electronics sector, Ms. Hima extended her entrepreneurial vision to address the import dependency of Bangladesh’s chemical industry. Recognizing a critical gap in the local manufacturing of industrial chemicals, she assumed the role of Managing Director of Walton Chemical Industries Limited. Her primary focus was to establish a robust foundation for research and innovation within the chemical sector. Under her dynamic leadership, the company rapidly emerged as the market leader in several product categories, including Masterbatch, Compounding, Powder Coating, and Hot- Melt Adhesives. Ms. Hima's vision for the chemical industry remains far-reaching. She has expressed strategic interest in expanding operations into key segments such as thermoplastic resins, food and beverage chemicals, paints and inks, and industrial packaging solutions. Her ultimate objective is to develop a comprehensive chemical supply chain capable of meeting the diversified needs of industries across Bangladesh, thereby ensuring national self-sufficiency in chemical manufacturing and distribution. In addition to driving financial growth and industrial expansion, Ms. Hima is deeply committed to sustainable development and corporate responsibility. She actively supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through initiatives such as waste recycling, energy-efficient and eco-friendly manufacturing, and gender inclusion within the workforce. Notably, her efforts in sustainable TV production have contributed to Walton Television being recognized as the "Most Loved TV Brand of Bangladesh" by the Bangladesh Brand Forum for the last three consecutive years.
Ms. Hima's dedication to national economic progress, industrial innovation, and social equity has garnered her significant recognition. On December 28, 2022, she was honored by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as the highest income taxpayer at the national level in the under-40 category for the fiscal year 2021-2022—a testament to her exemplary contributions to the country's economy. Furthermore, she continues to play a vital governance role within Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, serving as a memberof the Audit Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, where she contributes to ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic human resource management.
Ms. Raisa Sigma Hima's journey exemplifies the transformative potential of visionary leadership, particularly in emerging economies. Her contributions span industrial development, export enhancement, sustainable business practices, and gender empowerment—making her a distinguished figure in Bangladesh's corporate and development landscape.
