S. M. Shamsul Alam is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC., a role he has held since October 14, 2023. He was the founding Managing Director from April 17, 2006, to April 13, 2008, and subsequently served as Chairman from April 13, 2008, to May 15, 2018, before becoming Vice-Chairman from May 15, 2018, to October 14, 2023.

S. M. Shamsul Alam has been instrumental in transforming Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. from a manufacturer of refrigerators and air conditioners into a diversified technology-driven conglomerate. After establishing Walton as the market leader in refrigerators and televisions, Mr. Alam strategically identified another critical area tied to the country's real estate development—elevators, which at that time were entirely import-dependent. He envisioned a fully locally manufactured solution, and under his direction, Walton entered the elevator segment, which has since emerged as a market leader in Bangladesh. Notably, Walton is now the only company in the country producing all types of elevators locally.

Mr. Alam’s foresight did not stop there. He led Walton's expansion into a broad range of products, including home appliances, fans, cables, switch sockets, LED lights, and more—all developed with a deep commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. His future-oriented vision now sets sights on the automobile industry, reflecting his unrelenting drive for national industrial self-reliance. Born on August 17, 1963, in Tangail, Bangladesh, S.M. Shamsul Alam expanded his family business after graduation, collaborating with his elder brother and later involving his younger brothers. They established a manufacturing facility in Chandra, Gazipur, focusing on refrigerators and related products. Renowned for his prudent and versatile business acumen, Mr. Alam faces challenges head-on. His visionary goal is to advance Bangladesh in engineering and cutting-edge technology through product diversification and innovation. His leadership and foresight have significantly contributed to the country's manufacturing sector and technological progress.
