Director
Ms. Tahmina Afrose
Ms. Tahmina Afrose, an astute and visionary leader, is among the youngest directors at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. Born on the 17th of February, she is a proud alumna of the Independent University of Bangladesh, where she earned her degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance. Drawing upon her academic foundation, Ms. Tahmina seamlessly integrated into the family business, which specializes in Electrical & Electronics (E&E) products. With a forward-thinking mindset, she has become a beacon of innovation, driving technological advancements that merge smoothly with the everyday experiences of modern households.
With her entry into the business, she aspired to create meaningful change not only for society but also for the wider world. One of her earliest initiatives was to simplify the age-old, laborious practice of washing clothes by hand. Through her efforts, she made a significant contribution to the development of cost-effective, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly washing machines—products that brought both convenience and innovation to households. Previously, Bangladesh relied heavily on imported washing machines, which were primarily available in metropolitan cities such as Dhaka and Chattogram, often at prices beyond the reach of the middle class. Under Ms. Tahmina’s leadership, washing machines have become accessible, affordable, and suited to local needs. Her guidance has not only expanded domestic production but also ensured that customers enjoy high-quality, modern technology at competitive prices.
However, her impact does not end with washing machines. Her leadership extends across Walton's expansive portfolio of home and kitchen appliances, ranging from microwave ovens, electric kettles, and juicers to rice cookers, premium cookware, and more. Each product under her stewardship is designed with meticulous care to enhance the lives of the modern consumer, particularly empowering working women by simplifying daily tasks. Ms. Tahmina’s innovations create an environment where time is maximized, physical strain is minimized, and the aspiration for personal and professional fulfillment is realized. She is also playing a pivotal role in strengthening Walton’s presence in both domestic and international markets. Today, Walton manufactures almost all types of home and kitchen appliances locally and exports them to countries including Bhutan, East Timor, Hungary, Lebanon, India, Iraq, Senegal, Kenya, Fiji, Libya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Romania, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Yemen. Ms. Tahmina demonstrates profound awareness of global challenges, including climate change and environmental sustainability. She accords significant importance to corporate social responsibility, directing initiatives that ensure access to safe drinking water, advance renewable energy adoption within underserved communities, promote extensive tree plantation programs, and facilitate educational opportunities for underprivileged children. Her stewardship embodies a steadfast commitment to fostering enduring, positive transformation for both society and the environment.
A visionary in technology-driven household solutions, Ms. Tahmina also maintains a strong interest in sports, social awareness, technical education, and cultural development. She actively supports initiatives designed to engage youth in purposeful endeavors, thereby guiding them away from the adverse impacts of technology misuse and excessive social media exposure. At Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, Ms. Tahmina serves as an esteemed member of the Audit Committee as well as the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. She also serves as a distinguished member of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC.
